Other Buildings? Attached two-story brick keeper's house, fog signal building, wood storage building, assistant keeper's house, oil house, garage. Date Established: 1892 Date Present Tower Built: 1892 Date Automated: 1982 Optics: 1892: Fourth order Fresnel lens (now at Inland Seas Museum in Vermillion, Ohio); later: DCB-224. The DCB-224 lens was removed from the lantern in July of 2020 and replaced with a modern optic. Current Use: Bed and breakfast inn, active aid to navigation. Open To Public? Yes. Museum? Self-guided tours are available Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from May through October. Contact the Lake County Historical Society office at 218-834-4898 for winter tours. Directions: Take 7th Street off US Route 61 toward Lake Superior in Two Harbors.
