Considered by many as one of the most dangerous lighthouses to live in, the 1875 Tevennec Lighthouse off the coast of Brittany, France, is undergoing restoration.
Although the lighthouse sits high up on a rocky outcropping, waves are often known to crash over the structure and most keepers did not like being stationed here. 23 different keepers lived here during the 35 years that it was staffed. Reportedly, the first keeper went insane, claiming that he kept hearing voices, something that was experienced by subsequent keepers. Finally, the French government decided to make it a family lighthouse.
Automated in 1910, no one has lived there since then.
