The short, but famous, Brant Point Lighthouse on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts finally got some much-needed TLC (tender loving care) from the Coast Guard’s Aids to Navigation Team out of Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

The work was finally done this past April, after local citizens and the Nantucket Historical Commission pleaded with the Coast Guard, which still owns the lighthouse, to spruce it up.

The original Brant Point Light Station was established in 1746; and the current tower, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1901.

Before-and-after photos of the work at Brant Point Lighthouse are courtesy of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England and David Creed of the Nantucket Current.
