The 1935 Port Washington Breakwater Lighthouse in Port Washington, Wisconsin, is desperately in need of repairs.
Also known as the Port Washington North Breakwater Lighthouse, the structure’s steel tower, covered with rust, is an eyesore to the beautiful harbor. The historic art deco style tower also needs more than aesthetic repairs. Some of the porthole windows are allowing water into the tower and need to be replaced, plus repairs to the concrete base are needed. If local officials approve money for its restoration, the work could be done later this year.
