The facsimile lighthouse at Clipper Cove in the Pleasure Island Amusement Park in Wakefield, Massachusetts was quite a location to see in its day. Billed as the “Disneyland of the Northeast” the park opened in 1959 and closed in 1969. Many believe that because of New England’s relatively short summers, the park was doomed from the start.
The lighthouse is shown here in its heyday, and later when it was in ruins. The land formerly occupied by Pleasure Island Amusement Park is now the Edgewater Office Park.
