From its early beginning, community outings were popular at Highland Lighthouse on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and baseball games were always well attended. Under a magnifying glass, an early horseless carriage and two horse drawn wagons with horses can be seen by the keeper’s house. They were used to bring visitors to the lighthouse for this baseball game which was played next to spectacular views. Erosion has changed the look of the area since this photo was taken. In 1996 the light station was moved 450 feet back from the eroding bluff. The light station is owned and operated by the Cape Cod National Seashore.
