Florida’s Pensacola Lighthouse recently received an extremely rare artifact in the form of a U.S. Light-House Establishment 3-quart brass oil measuring pitcher that was donated to them by Louis Simmons, who is shown here with the item.

Mr. Simmons’ father was a friend of lighthouse keeper George Darby and received the oil measuring can after Mr. Darby’s passing. The can was once used at the Pensacola Lighthouse. Oil cans that are stamped with the words U.S. Light-House Establishment or U.S. Lighthouse Service are extremely rare and quite valuable, and this will enhance the museum exhibit at the lighthouse.
