Phase One of the Memorial Brick Program that marks the East Entrance to the Maine Lighthouse Museum is now completed.
Paul Dilger, a retired former captain of the Coast Guard Buoy Tender Abbie Burgess, who is president of the Maine Lighthouse Museum, said that having the walkway completed in time for the opening season of the museum was “a great way to kick things off and shows the widespread support that the museum has among those in the lighthouse preservation movement.”
The first brick installed in the walkway at the museum was placed in honor of the late Ken Black, who was the founder of the Maine Lighthouse Museum.
There are also a number of other bricks in the walkway that were purchased by others to honor Ken Black, who was known by many as “Mr. Lighthouse.”
Bricks for Phase II
Now Available for Purchase
The Maine Lighthouse Museum is now selling memorial bricks for Phase Two, which will be used to mark the West Entrance to the museum. Bricks are a great way to honor someone, promote a business or historic site such as a lighthouse, or in memory of a loved one. In looking at the bricks, we found one for Little River Lighthouse in Cutler, Maine and Race Point Lighthouse in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Bricks are $75 and a brick order form can be found on the museum’s web site at www.mainelighthousemuseum.org or by calling them at 207-594-3301. The Maine Lighthouse Museum, with its amazing collection of lighthouse lenses and many other rare lighthouse artifacts, is located on the waterfront at One Park Drive, Rockland, Maine 04841.
