Hawaii’s Kauhola Point Lighthouse is gone, deliberately destroyed. It was destroyed to prevent it from toppling over the cliff and possibly injuring or killing someone.
This was not unexpected; we wrote about the lighthouse in our November 2007 and December 2009 editions. This is
indeed a sad situation as we again witness history in the making. Although a new lighthouse has been built at the site, it is not the typical lighthouse and will never have the rich history of the
previous towers that are now lost to the dusty pages of time.
Because of the historical significance we felt it was
important to share with you the Kauhola Point Lighthouses as they
