When Steve Brooker decided to build a lighthouse high atop a 250-foot cliff at New River on Claytor Lake, Virginia little did he know that he would eventually light the 60 foot tall tower with a real lighthouse artifact.
Deciding he would help Brooker find some type of light for the tower, his brother-in-law John Kline started to do some searching on E-Bay and stumbled across alight for sale from the long lost Gull Shoal Lighthouse that once stood near Bluff Point North Carolina in Pamlico Sound.
The old original paperwork that came with the light indicated that it indeed was once used at the Gull Shoal location. The biggest problem they faced was how to get the heavy lantern to the top of the lighthouse.
