Shown here from several antique post card images is the North Bitter Lakes Lighthouse that was built in the 1860s in the Suez Canal in Egypt. The lighthouse was also known as the Bitterlakes Lighthouse.

Located near Abu Sultan Egypt the lighthouse no longer stands. We have not been able to find any information on the keepers who staffed the lighthouse or why or when the lighthouse was destroyed. Since the lighthouse is located in such a notorious part of the world and numerous post cards were made of it, one would think that information on the lighthouse would be readily available, but it is not.
