Shown here is the keeper's house at Long Point Lighthouse, NC as it reportedly appeared in June of 1893. Reports indicate it was moved in 1920 to become an assistant keepers house at North Carolina's Currituck Lighthouse.
If this is true, are there any photographs of move?
Are there any photographs of North Carolina's Long Point Lighthouse, which the Coast Guard web site indicates was called Long Point Beacon Light # 8? Or was it in fact the Long Shoal Light near Engelhard, NC? On the other hand, was this the site of some type of Lighthouse Depot? We wish we had the staff and the time to research this, but hopefully some of our readers can help.
We look forward to hearing from one of the expert historians on that area of the country or are good at solving history's mysteries. Email us at Editor@LighthouseDigest.com or write to us at Lighthouse Digest, P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630.
