Thanks to the efforts of the American Lighthouse ...

Two years ago the American Lighthouse Foundation saved the tower at Maine’s Prospect Harbor lighthouse from imminent collapse when they removed the lantern room and replaced the timbered platform, which had completely rotted from years of unchecked water damage.

The inside stairway of Prospect Harbor ...

Located in the small Downeast community of Prospect Harbor, the structure is one of the last remaining wooden conical towers in America. This year the organization, thanks to a grant from NELL, replaced the windows in the tower.

However, the beautiful wooden stairway leading to the lantern room, which has suffered from years of moisture damage, causing the wood to rot, is now considered too dangerous to climb without emergency restoration.
