I Wish I Were a Lighthouse

By Gerry Braun

Comments?

I wish I were a lighthouse,

Shining oh so bright,

My beacon would help everyone,

Throughout each and every night.

I would never be lonely,

As I looked upon the sea,

There are ships everywhere.

Wherever my light might be.

Some say I'm no longer needed,

That my age is caching up to me,

But I feel just as important,

As I could ever be.

Look, I've got a new coat of paint!

My stairs repaired and strong,

I'm now again open for visitors,

But will I be that way for long?

But since I'm not a lighthouse.

And I will never be,

I hope that all lighthouses,

Will be safe for history!
