As we have discussed and shown our readers many times over the years, lighthouses have been used in many ways to promote many different products. However this is the first time we saw them used as the tops for coffee cream.
A large collection of them was recently sent to us by Lighthouse Digest subscriber Christa von Matt of Switzerland who tells us that cream tops like this are quite popular in Switzerland. There are usually 20 or 30 different tops in each series and for a while collecting them was quite popular. Apparently some are even used in various areas of the United States, although I have personally never seen any.
Christa has collected thousands of them. In fact there are more than 60,000, just from Switzerland alone, in Christa’s personal collection.
Obviously, we are only able to show you some of them here, but these and the other lighthouse coffee cream tops sent to us will eventually be displayed in the advertising section of the Museum of Lighthouse History in Wells, Maine.
It just goes to show you the many ways you can have fun collecting just about anything with lighthouses.
