Melvin Brooks (r) with Thomas W. Drake (l) who was from the same hometown in Texas where the Brooks were from. The photo was taken at Cape May, New Jersey where they attended boot camp together. Drake, now deceased, later went on to become a lighthouse keeper at Thacher Island Light Station off the coast of Rockport, Massachusetts. Back to the edition of: April 2005
