A facsimile of the new Maine state Pemaquid Point Lighthouse quarter is affixed to the podium just prior to the official release ceremony of the release of the quarter on June 9, 2003. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is located in Bristol Maine. The original keeper’s house, now houses the informative Fisherman’s Museum, which is open to the public free of charge.
The United States Mint and the State of Maine donated the only image of the quarter used in the official release ceremony of the quarter to the American Lighthouse Foundation and the Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. The large facsimile of the coin will now be on display in the tower at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.
