The turtle-back motor life-boat at Hog Island in 1942. It had the ability, if capsized, to right itself in a matter of seconds. The crew was always told to take a deep breath! Kearn was on this boat for a rescue when the water was so rough it tore loose the bow bumper. Back to the edition of: March 2001
