The Lighthouse Tender Cedar was the lifeline to many remote lighthouses in Alaskan waters. Built in 1917 in was in use by the government until it was decommissioned in 1950. Lighthouse tenders like this delivered books, magazines and even the mail to many remote light stations. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
