Tim Harrison, editor of Lighthouse Digest, is shown here in 2003 speaking at the unveiling and dedication ceremony of the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse quarter. It was the first time in history that a lighthouse appeared on United States coinage. The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, in Bristol, Maine, is licensed to the American Lighthouse Foundation and its local chapter opens the lighthouse for tours on a regular basis. The license for the historic preservation of the lighthouse was secured from the Coast Guard for the American Lighthouse Foundation, by Tim Harrison when he was president of the organization.
