The 1870 Rocher aux Oiseaux Lighthouse as it appeared in 1961. It was also referred to as the Bird Rock Lighthouse. The cables were used to support the lighthouse from the strong winds on the island. This structure no longer stands. It was replaced by a different tower in 1967. Back to the edition of: May/Jun 2011
