The 1890 Tangier Sound Lighthouse, southeast of Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia as it appeared when George Martin Wible served there. In 1923 keeper Wible risked his own life, battling rough seas to save six men who were drifting in a small boat. The lighthouse was discontinued in 1961 and dismantled and no longer stands.
