This is a vintage image of the LaPointe Lighthouse Station from the time when Ben Hudak was stationed there. This image shows the long dock that was needed to carry supplies to the lighthouse. After electricity was brought to the island on August 3, 1937, the triplex keeper’s house, shown to the right, was constructed and completed in 1938 as part of a Public Works Administration (PWA) project that created jobs during the Great Depression. Ben Hudak lived in the triplex from 1938 on. To the left of the lighthouse tower is the radio beacon tower and the fog signal building, both of which no longer stand. (Courtesy James S. Hudak.)
