The Station Cape Disappointment crew was up in the lantern room and lookout post when we arrived that day. Notice the permanently shuttered window panes on the upper bands of the lantern that were eventually sealed off within a couple of decades after the 4th order lens was installed, as it was unnecessary to have glass panes of that height for the much smaller lens.
