While serving at Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, Keeper Schrieber was awarded the efficiency star eight different years and was commended for keeping a timber-loaded raft from floating into Lake Pontchartrain. Schrieber also served as a corporal in the army during the Spanish-American War and was a town Marshall in Ocean Springs, MS.
