The violin that once belonged to Point Adams Lighthouse keeper Joel W. Munson is now on display at the Warrenton Interpretative Center at Lighthouse Park in Warrenton, Oregon. Joel Munson carried this violin with him when he left New York City on his way via Panama to the Pacific Coast. While traveling up the Pacific Coast on the vessel Constitution, he was able to pay his way by playing the violin using the stage name “Fiddler Smith.” This is the same violin that he played to raise money for a lifeboat at Cape Disappointment and the same violin that he played to entertain guests at the Point Adams Lighthouse. The violin was inherited by relative Harriet Kane Baldwin and her husband Judge E.R. Baldwin and was later donated to the museum at the Warrenton Visitors Center.
