Ashtabula Harbor Lighthouse, Ohio as it appeared during the time the “Fearless Four” were station there. According to a 1918 government report the quarters were designed for three keepers while on duty, with a keeper’s dwelling on shore with living quarters for two families. The basement contained a cellar, cistern, coal bin, storeroom and oil and paint room. The first floor contained the engine room, a bedroom and bathroom. The second floor had a living room, pantry, a bedroom, tank room and a hallway leading to the watch room above. (Photograph courtesy United States Coast Guard.)
