During World War II the Richardson's and all Canadian lighthouse keepers were trained to watch for enemy planes and ships. This cover of The Standard shows lighthouse keeper Eddie Gallagher at Chebucto Head Lighthouse in Halifax Harbor, Nova Scotia watching for enemy planes. In his hand he is holding a government issued manual that would help him identify the type of plane he might spot. Gallagher served at Chebucto Head Lighthouse as the keeper from 1928-1950. Sadly, the lighthouse shown here was demolished in 1967 and replaced by a new tower. (Courtesy Donald Gallagher.)
