At the end of a long yet wonderful day at the ...

Our lighthouse adventure started in 1989 while we were visiting and researching the lighthouses of the New England. What started as day-trips to the Maine Coast from our New Hampshire mountain home, became increasingly more encompassing.

In the early years of our marriage, we spent all our free time researching and visiting lighthouses. When relatives came to visit, we took them to lighthouses.

Tim was was a great tour guide and “narrated” all our trips. Later, he would search for more information to share with anyone who want to know more. With each new lighthouse we visited, he would ask: What happened here? Who lived here? What was their life like? And so, we set out to answer those questions, and many more.

And through the pages of the 294 issues of Lighthouse Digest those stories were told. We visited lighthouses across the country and beyond.

Our trip to the 1st Annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival was incredible. Since Tim grew up in Michigan, he knew his way around and gave me the grand tour. We visited lighthouses and so much more. Tim always drove (must be a guy-thing) and I was always the navigator. In the days of paper foldout maps and no GPS, this was sometimes a challenge. But, when we got to the Mackinac Bridge, we stopped and he let me drive over that big beautiful bridge.

Always a gentleman, he was a man of exceptional character who will be greatly missed. It is nice to know that I am not alone in that. The letters of condolence from our subscribers have been amazing!

Sadly, Lighthouse Digest has reached this milestone with the loss of our editor and my business partner and husband of 34 years. I thank you for your support, over these years in helping Tim and me in our efforts to research, rediscover, archive, and report on lighthouse history so that it can be saved for future generations.
