This photo above, submitted to us by David McKee, was found in the album of Irene Brooks whose father Edward Brooks was the lighthouse keeper from 1902 to 1925 at the New Dungeness Lighthouse in the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Washington.
We have no idea what this archaic looking instrument was used for at the lighthouse. Was it used as a fog signal? Was it used to thwart rum runners? Was it built as a play tool for the children of the lighthouse keeper? Perhaps one of our readers will be able to enlighten us.
