Shown here in this recently discovered photo, courtesy of Ann Karrow, is lighthouse keeper George R. Wilson in the 1930s throwing out a rope to a small boat trying to deliver mail to Alaska’s Cape Sarichef Lighthouse.
He also served at DeTour Light, Michigan; Cape Flattery Lighthouse, Washington; West Point Lighthouse, Washington; Scotch Cap Lighthouse, Alaska; and Cape Decision Lighthouse in Alaska.
Interestingly, George R. Wilson finished his lighthouse career on the Great Lakes as a 2nd assistant keeper at Michigan’s Middle Island Lighthouse from 1941 to 1942.
