The Town Council of Cape Vincente, New York has announced that its agreement with Hostelling International has been discontinued.

A Cape Vicente town official said that Hostelling International could not attract enough visitors and was losing more than $10,000 per year. Since 1984, Hosteling International offered 26 beds in six bedrooms in the two former keeper’s homes at the lighthouse. The town said that they will consult with others on the possible future uses of the keeper’s homes.

The Tibbetts Point Lighthouse Historical Society continues to operate the beautiful Visitors Center at the site as well as the lighthouse tower itself.
