The 1878 Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse in Portsmouth, New Hampshire has recently received a new paint job thanks to $34,000 raised by the Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses.
The work was carried out by the J. B. Leslie Co. of South Berwick, Maine, the same company that previously painted the lighthouse in 2010.
The Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse sits next to an active Coast Guard Station and the ruins of Fort Constitution, a historic site that is considered by many as the location of the first overt act of the Revolutionary War. The fort was recently closed to the public because of its dangerous condition. (Photos by Jeremy D’Entremont)
