It’s not often that any government builds a new lighthouse. But that was the case earlier this year when the Canadian Coast Guard erected a new light tower to replace the 1869 Swift Point Lighthouse on the Saint John River near Indiantown, New Brunswick that had been destroyed by fire seven months earlier.
The lighthouse was constructed off site in sections and then transported by truck to its permanent location where a crane was used to erect the new tower. (Photos courtesy Canadian Coast Guard.)
