Point Perpendicular, Australia This was first lighthouse in New South Wales, Australia to be built of cement-rendered concrete blocks. The construction of the lighthouse was completed in 1898, and it was first lighted in 1899. The original light was decommission in 1993 and replaced by a solar powered light. Rozewie East Lighthouse The Rozewie East Lighthouse, located at Cape Rozewie on the Poland’s Baltic Coast, has seen a number of alterations to the tower over the years. Today there is an exhibit about Polish lighthouses at the site. Amazingly, there has been a navigational aid at this site since 1696.
Faro Morro Santiago de Cuba The light station here might have been established as early as 1842, but it is believed that this tower was constructed in 1923.
Faro Castillo del Morro This lighthouse in Havana Harbor, Cuba dates back to 1845. For a time, the fort was used as a prison. During the Spanish-American War, the site was occupied by American forces. (Photo by Linda L. Field.)
