People from twenty-two states signed the guest book at the annual Open House this past July 11th at Maine’s secluded West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the eastern most lighthouse on the mainland of the Atlantic coast of the Continental United States. Additionally, there were people from nearby Canada and from the southern Caribbean island nation of Aruba. There were also a number of people in attendance who were descendants of lighthouse keepers, as well as a former Coast Guard keeper who served at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. All of this in itself was quite remarkable, considering the remote location of the red and white striped 1858 lighthouse that overlooks the Bay of Fundy near the town of Lubec, Maine.
