This 100-plus year old whimsical post card was postmarked in 1911. Although it was probably sold at many locations around the country, this particular post card was sold in Mercer, Pennsylvania, which is nowhere near any place with tides. In fact, the community where the card was purchased is an amazing 912 miles from the dramatic tidal changes at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the easternmost mainland lighthouse of the continental United States, located in Lubec, Maine. Old lighthouse post cards and lighthouse related post cards all have a story to tell. Post card collecting can be a fun and educational activity for the entire family.
