Recently another slice of Maine’s lighthouse history has been rediscovered with photographs sent us courtesy of Karin Elliott Whitney and Sam Elliot.
Veteran lighthouse keeper Capt. Edward D. Elliot, who served at Maine’s Cape Elizabeth’s Two Lights Station during World War II, was the last civilian keeper to have served there.
In one photo he is shown in his lighthouse keeper’s uniform and the other adorable photo he is shown with his grandchildren Martha and Sam.
Lighthouse Digest is always looking for photographs of lighthouse keepers and family members who served at lighthouses. If have any to share or know where they might be located please contact us at Lighthouse Digest, P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630 or e-mail Editor@LighthouseDigest.com.
