The Army National Guard lent a helping hand to the Friends of Seguin Island in getting supplies out to the island for renovations to the lighthouse.
Using a Black Hawk helicopter, 12 members of the Army National Guard transported building materials to the island, which is located off the entrance to Maine’s Kennebec River. When the supplies were delivered to the island, volunteer sailors from the U.S.S. Winston Churchill helped unload the materials.
Seguin Island Light is the highest lighthouse above water in Maine, and has the state’s only first order Fresnel lens. The lighthouse is also reported to be the most haunted lighthouse in Maine.
