Michigan’s Charlevoix Lighthouse Depot was originally built to service the lighthouses and buoys in the region. Many smaller Depot’s like this one were eventually closed and demolished as services were consolidated into larger Depots. Klaus S. Andersen and his family lived here in the Depot keeper’s house for a number of years. When the Charlevoix Buoy Depot was discontinued the Coast Guard demolished the keepers house, however the old Depot building on the right is still standing and used today for storage. Lo Anne Brown has many fond and happy memories of living here. Photograph courtesy of the Charlevoix Historical Society Photo Archives Bon Miles Collection.
