The Battery Point Lighthouse sits atop an island twice a day when the tide is in, but when the tide is out people can walk across driftwood, sand, rocks and up a steep incline roadway to visit. The tower now holds a 5th order light that replaced the 4th order light used when the beacon was powered by whale oil and later kerosene. Back to the edition of: March 2007
