This is an antique lantern which was liberated from the lighthouse at Isla Granda (Toro Point Light), when the station was converted on June 7, 1972 from acetylene gas to automated battery operation. The lantern is approximately 6 feet high and 3 feet in diameter and is mounted on a metal display base. The name plate affixed to the lantern reads as follows: "F. Barbier & Cia. Constructors, Paris, France, 1893. It was originally constructed to operate with oil and dates back to the period of the French effort to build the Canal.
