The picture you are looking at is the Robbins Reef Lighthouse, also know as Kates Light, of 1883, located in the upper New York Bay.
The only difference is, this particular lighthouse is not even an Aid To Navigation or in the true meaning of the word, LIGHTHOUSE. The picture, the sky, the water, and the lighthouse are what we would call "make believe." What you are actually looking at, is a model of the Robbins Reef Lighthouse, built by Joe Esposito. The model is approximately six inches high and four inches wide. The picture of the sky was taken at Midland Beach on Staten Island and the picture of the water was taken at South Beach looking in the direction of the Lower New York Bay.
All this was put together on Joe Espositio's computer from a digital camera. So for all of you who have a model of a lighthouse, the next time you go to the beach, take the model with you, and don't forget your camera.
