Photo Caption:
George Rodgers (1891-1954) is shown here on the right, wearing the white hat, on the Coast Guard rum-running patrol boat CG2355. The man on the left is unidentified. The vessel had a machine gun mounted on its bow. Although George Rodgers was a short man, only 5’2” tall, he was tough, and held a local area featherweight boxing title. Reportedly, he was also a man of “colorful language.” (Photo courtesy David and Georgene Finch.) Back to the edition of: May/Jun 2016
