Harold E. Smith is shown here with his wife Elizabeth from a photo taken in October of 2000. He was stationed as a Coast Guard keeper at Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse from 1962 to 1963. By the time he was assigned to Thomas Point Lighthouse, he was no stranger to lighthouse keeping. He had previously been stationed at Hooper Island Lighthouse from1956 to 1958 and at Drum Point Lighthouse in 1961. (Lighthouse Digest archive photo by Kathleen Finnegan.)
