Far right: As a young teenager, Flora A. Pearson, who served as the assistant keeper of the Red Bluff (Admiralty Head) Lighthouse from 1867 to 1878, took over many of her father’s duties when he was ill. She married pioneer farmer William Engle, shown here with her, in 1906. She became a famous Coupeville presence as Flora Augusta Pearson Engle. Born in 1850, she passed away in 1935.
