Walter White had a 45-year career working as a lightship seaman, engineer and lighthouse keeper in both the U.S. Lighthouse Service and as a civilian in the U.S. Coast Guard. 35 years of that time was spent as keeper at Piedras Blancas, Point Arguello, Point Montara and Point Hueneme Lighthouses in California.
