The HMC Hind was a revenue cutter when Walter White (far right) served aboard her in 1900. The ship also functioned as a tender to the coastguard ship, Severn. Walter told his daughter, LaVerne, that the Hind would go out to collect taxes on cigarettes and maybe liquor; and that one time, some of the crew threw the tax collector overboard.
