Walter White became “Warspite Boy 73” in 1896 at the Marine Training School in London, England for a year. There, he studied and received a “very good” rating in sail drill, knotting and splicing, pulling, steering, general seamanship, palm and needle (sail making), compass reading, writing, arithmetic and scripture.
