Baard H. Lervick (far left) was present when the flag was lowered for the last time at Mary Island Light Station during its decommissioning on April 15, 1969. Baard was later given the flag by Capt. Richard H. Hagadorn, Ketchikan Base Commander (second left) in recognition of Baard’s father, lighthouse keeper Baard Jens Lervick’s service years there from 1923 to 1930.
